Doch genau dies plant die konservative Regierung Gro\u00dfbritanniens mit der privatisierten Eisenbahn. Und zwar rasch. Noch in dieser Woche!<\/p>\n<p>Die Privatisierung der Eisenbahn in Gro\u00dfbritannien bzw. England wurde Mitte der 1990er-Jahre unter Margaret Thatcher begonnen und f\u00fchrte entgegen der Annahmen der &#8220;Eisenen Lady&#8221; nicht zu besserem Service, mehr Verbindungen, mehr P\u00fcnktlichkeit und g\u00fcnstigeren Preisen bei der Bahn &#8211; sondern zu einer H\u00e4ufung von Unf\u00e4llen, teilweise mit Menschenopfern. Die neuen privaten Bahnunternehmen versuchten die eigenen Gewinne und die Dividenden-Aussch\u00fcttungen an die Shareholder zu optimieren und verzichteten auf den Ausbau der Strecken, ja sogar auf die korrekte Wartung der Eisenbahntrassen. Einige Unf\u00e4lle waren durch schadhafte Gleise verursacht worden. Nach einem Zugungl\u00fcck in Hatfield, bei dem vier Menschen starben, kam die damalige Betreibergesellschaft &#8220;Railtrack&#8221; wegen mangelhafter Wartung und Einsparungen an Personal und Material in Bedr\u00e4ngnis. Trotzdem dauert das Experiment bis heute an. Es gibt sogar einen Film zu diesem Thema namens &#8220;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.imdb.com\/title\/tt0279977\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">The Navigators<\/a>&#8221; (&#8220;Geschichten von den Gleisen&#8221;) von Ken Loach aus dem Jahr 2001.<\/p>\n<p><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-1676 alignleft\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/railwayportal.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/01\/north-yorkshire-moors-2430756_960_720.jpg?resize=300%2C200&#038;ssl=1\" alt=\"Gleise Dungeness romney marsh England\" width=\"300\" height=\"200\" srcset=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/railwayportal.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/01\/north-yorkshire-moors-2430756_960_720.jpg?resize=300%2C200&amp;ssl=1 300w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/railwayportal.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/01\/north-yorkshire-moors-2430756_960_720.jpg?resize=768%2C511&amp;ssl=1 768w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/railwayportal.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/01\/north-yorkshire-moors-2430756_960_720.jpg?w=960&amp;ssl=1 960w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/>Die Ank\u00fcndigung der neuen Regierung von Boris Johnson kommt \u00fcberraschend, stammt doch die Forderung nach einer Verstaatlichung aus dem Programm der konkurrierenden Labour-Partei. Und die Privatisierung war und ist eine st\u00e4ndige Forderung von konservativen und wirtschafts-liberalen Parteien, wobei die Sinnhaftigkeit bei zentralen Infrastrukturen eines Landes (wie z.B. Eisenbahn, Stra\u00dfen, Stromversorgung, Wasserversorgung, etc.) bereits seit Jahren angezweifelt wird. Auch in Australien hat die Privatisierung der Eisenbahn zu schlecht gewarteten Trassen und einer H\u00e4ufung von Unf\u00e4llen gef\u00fchrt. Gleichzeitig arbeiteten die Betreiber der Bahngesellschaften nicht profitabel, sondern bekamen umfassende Subventionen, um zu \u00fcberleben. Diese staatlichen Zusch\u00fcsse waren teilweise h\u00f6her als die fr\u00fcheren Kosten f\u00fcr die staatliche Eisenbahn. Und zus\u00e4tzlich sch\u00fctteten die Unternehmen Gewinne an ihre Anleger aus, anstatt die Einnahme zu re-investieren.<\/p>\n<p>Die Regierung in Gro\u00dfbritannien will neben der Wiederverstaatlichung auch eine <a href=\"https:\/\/www.railjournal.com\/infrastructure\/britain-launches-line-and-station-reopening-initiative\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Initiative zur Wiederer\u00f6ffnung von Verbindungen und Stationen<\/a> durchf\u00fchren, wof\u00fcr zus\u00e4tzliche \u00a3 500 Mio. vorgesehen sind.<\/p>\n<p><em>Wir sind gespannt, wie sich die Lage der Eisenbahn in Gro\u00dfbritannien entwickelt.
